The "Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan for the Xiamen Metallurgical Industry," compiled by the Xiamen Machinery Industry Association and commissioned by the Xiamen Economic and Development Bureau, was officially unveiled yesterday. The plan outlines a bold vision for Xiamen's industrial growth, emphasizing its current status as a global leader in the tungsten industry and aircraft maintenance. In addition, the city is aiming to establish itself as a new world-class hub for the production of large and medium-sized buses.
According to the plan, by mid-2010, Xiamen is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 40,000 large and medium-sized passenger vehicles. Specifically, the new bus chassis production capacity will reach 30,000 units per year, with more than 50% of the internal components being locally sourced. The plan also highlights the development of high-grade chassis assembly and testing capabilities, ensuring that the quality of Xiamen-made buses meets international standards.
Furthermore, the plan emphasizes the need for the automobile industry in Xiamen to move toward group management and integrated operations. A key step in this strategy involves aligning the sales strategies of Jinlong United and Jinlong Wagon first, followed by coordination with the sales policies of Suzhou Golden Dragon. Ultimately, the goal is to create a unified sales system for the "Golden Dragon" brand, ensuring consistent pricing and service across all channels.
This comprehensive plan reflects Xiamen’s ambition to not only strengthen its existing industrial strengths but also expand into new markets, positioning itself as a major player in the global automotive industry.
