With the continuous advancement of scientific and technological innovation, Shijiazhuang Refining & Chemical has established itself as one of the top 100 enterprises in Hebei Province. The initial development of the Shijiazhuang Circular Economy Chemical Base is driven by the company's efforts in upgrading oil quality and expanding caprolactam production. This information was released on January 25 by the Shijiazhuang Refinery Branch of China Petroleum and Chemical Co., Ltd.
According to reports, the refining capacity of the Shijiazhuang refinery has been significantly expanded, increasing from 2.5 million tons per year to 5 million tons per year. Meanwhile, the comprehensive energy consumption has dropped dramatically, from 96.57 kilograms of standard oil per ton in 2007 to 74.19 kilograms per ton, achieving a reduction of 23.17%. The company has made significant progress in technical innovation across five key areas:
First, they optimized tapping potential and maximized energy recovery from high-energy-consuming equipment. The catalytic cracker alone accounts for 40% of the company’s total energy use. To address this, they installed a CO incinerator that produces 25 tons of steam per hour. Through process optimization and energy-saving measures, they reduced energy consumption by 26 units.
Second, the company implemented combined heat and power systems to boost efficiency. By upgrading the steam extraction systems of turbines No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3, and improving steam system management, they reduced steam usage from 450,000 tons to 100,000 tons annually. This led to an additional 10.85 million kWh of electricity generated each year.
Third, the company leveraged its advantages to make secondary use of energy. During the technological upgrades of catalysis and coking facilities, they introduced energy-saving technologies, enabling heat exchange between different devices. After the transformation, three sets of equipment saved over one million yuan annually.
Fourth, the company adopted low-temperature heat technology to minimize energy loss. In 2007, they invested 22 million yuan to fully implement this technology. They collected low-temperature heat sources from production facilities and re-matched them based on device requirements. This included using low-temperature heat for hydrogen unit heating and installing steam traps in condensate systems, effectively recovering waste heat.
Finally, the company turned wastewater into a valuable resource. As a major water user in Hebei Province, the company constructed a new high-concentration wastewater treatment facility and a dual-film wastewater treatment system in 2007. They also developed a company-wide green water pipeline network, raising the wastewater reuse rate to 30%. Additionally, the affiliated chemical fiber company improved the operation and management of its circulating water discharge and reuse system, solving issues related to the mutual freezing of two chilled water systems. Throughout the year, the company saved a total of 236,000 tons of water.
Through these initiatives, Shijiazhuang Refining & Chemical has not only enhanced its operational efficiency but also set a benchmark for sustainable development in the petrochemical industry.
