The Elk Grove Village Fire Department has recently acquired a new Pierce Velocity 100-foot rear-mount tower ladder from Pierce. This model comes equipped with a pump and water tank, marking the first time in many years that the department has added such a unit to its fleet. The purchase represents a significant upgrade in both capability and response readiness for the department.
Here are some of the previous aerial apparatus that have served the community over the years:
In addition to the new tower ladder, the department is also planning to acquire a small squad unit to be stationed at Station 7 alongside the new apparatus. This will serve as a jump company dedicated to handling emergency medical services (EMS) calls, improving response times and overall service quality. The exact type of vehicle is still being determined, but the goal is to enhance the department’s ability to respond quickly and efficiently to a wide range of emergencies.
