The Foton Cummins Engine Production Base was officially put into production, producing the latest generation of 2.8-liter and 3.8-liter direct-injection diesel engines. The engines produced were first used for the Foton model and also sold to other automakers at home and abroad.

Zhao Jingguang, deputy secretary of the Foton Motor Party Committee, said in an interview with reporters that Futian will build the world's largest engine production base in Beijing in the next three years, including the Olympian engine project with a production capacity of 200,000 units and the planned 300,000 direct injection gasoline engine projects.

The Cummins engine put into operation this year is the Euro IV emission standard, which will reach Euro V next year and will be Euro VI in 2013.
