In late 2020, Delfast Inc., a rapidly growing electric bike manufacturer based in Ukraine, announced the launch of a crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising $3 million through Fundable, one of the largest platforms for small business fundraising. The initiative comes after a remarkable year for Delfast, which saw its sales soar to $2 million—nearly quadrupling its 2019 earnings of $552,000. This growth has been fueled by a significant surge in demand for electric bicycles, particularly since the onset of the pandemic, which has seen the global e-bike market double in size.
This new fundraising effort aims not only to capitalize on current success but also to address burgeoning customer interest. In fact, Delfast has already received letters of intent amounting to $100 million, highlighting the pent-up demand for their products. To meet this demand, the company plans to build a dedicated Research & Development center. This move is timely, especially considering the strong backing from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who publicly pledged his support for Delfast's ambitious expansion plans during a visit to Unit City, Ukraine’s first innovation hub.
Delfast's journey began humbly in 2014 as an eco-friendly delivery service founded by Daniel Tonkopiy and Serhii Denysenko. However, it wasn’t long before the company pivoted toward designing cutting-edge electric bikes. Their breakthrough came in 2017 when they unveiled the world’s longest-range electric bike, setting a Guinness World Record by traveling 367 kilometers on a single charge. This milestone cemented Delfast’s reputation as a leader in electric mobility.
Today, Delfast operates globally, shipping its high-performance electric bikes to customers in over 40 countries. From casual riders to professional users like Mexican police departments, Delfast has earned widespread acclaim. Their loyal customer base has collectively logged over 10 million miles on their bikes, underscoring both the reliability and popularity of their products.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Delfast has turned to crowdfunding. Back in 2017, they successfully raised $165,000 via Kickstarter, thanks to contributions from 75 enthusiastic backers. For this latest campaign, they’re offering even more advanced models, each designed to push the boundaries of what’s possible in terms of speed, range, and power.
As we look ahead, it’s clear that Delfast is poised for continued growth. With the right investment, they could solidify their position as a dominant force in the global e-bike industry. Stay tuned as they navigate this exciting chapter in their story!
