At Autodesk, we’re constantly inspired by the countless companies that are revolutionizing design and manufacturing practices in meaningful ways. Recently, we celebrated several outstanding organizations at our third annual Design & Manufacturing Excellence Awards, which took place during Autodesk University in Las Vegas. These awards recognize trailblazers who are harnessing the power of cutting-edge technology to push the limits of innovation. Let's take a closer look at some of the remarkable winners: --- ### Innovator of the Year: Volkswagen Group of America To mark the 20th anniversary of its largest vehicle research facility outside of Germany, the team at Volkswagen’s Innovation and Engineering Center decided to reimagine the iconic VW bus—a symbol of the brand’s rich heritage. With a focus on maximizing strength while minimizing weight, the VW team collaborated closely with Autodesk to apply generative design techniques to the wheels, resulting in a 18% reduction in weight and significantly lower rolling resistance. The innovative approach not only lightened the load but also slashed the development timeline from 18 months to mere months. Generative design was also employed to redesign the steering wheel, rear bench seating supports, and external side mirror mounts. The Type 20 electric-infused concept car seamlessly blends classic Volkswagen aesthetics with futuristic technology, showcasing what the automotive industry might look like in the near future. --- ### Industry Disruptor: Airbus In Germany, Airbus innovators are redefining manufacturing possibilities through generative design. Their Bionic Partition project exemplifies this shift. By leveraging advanced generative design tools, they’ve optimized a new partition that’s lighter yet equally strong, cutting production costs dramatically thanks to a casting process. Moreover, Airbus is applying similar principles to other structural components, such as the vertical tail plane of its A320 aircraft. The aim? To enhance mass efficiency, stiffness, and crashworthiness—all while reducing environmental impact. Additionally, they’re exploring generative design for the layout of their next-generation production facilities, aiming for sustainability and improved workflow efficiency. --- ### Engineering the Impossible: Dynamic Attractions Dynamic Attractions has long been known for creating jaw-dropping structures like bridges, observatories housing massive telescopes, and exhilarating theme park rides. This century-old company owes much of its success to tools within the Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing Collection. These tools have enabled them to streamline workflows and boost productivity, turning their engineers into architects of impossibility. With a philosophy rooted in groundbreaking innovation, Dynamic Attractions lives up to its mantra: “Anything you can dream, we can build.” --- ### Industry Collaboration: LASIMM The Large Additive Subtractive Integrated Modular Machine (LASIMM) project is a game-changer in hybrid manufacturing. Led by ten European partners, this initiative aims to construct one of the world’s largest hybrid manufacturing machines capable of producing metal parts up to 20 feet by 6 feet and weighing up to 4,500 pounds. Recently tested, the LASIMM machine produced demo parts such as airplane panels and wind turbine components, designed by industry leaders like Foster & Partners. Powered by Autodesk Fusion 360 and PowerMill, this project represents a leap forward in hybrid manufacturing, offering significant cost and production advantages over traditional methods. --- ### Making a Better World: KickStart International Africa faces immense challenges, particularly among its farming communities, where poverty and food insecurity persist despite vast arable lands. KickStart International, a nonprofit social enterprise, is working tirelessly to address these issues by providing affordable irrigation solutions. Through partnerships with organizations like the Autodesk Foundation, KickStart has refined the design of its MoneyMaker Solar Pump, now being tested in Kenya. Built using Autodesk Fusion 360, it’s the most cost-effective solar pump available in Africa. Since its inception, KickStart has sold over 330,000 irrigation pumps, established a quarter-million businesses, and lifted nearly 1.5 million people out of poverty. --- These stories highlight how technology is reshaping industries and improving lives worldwide. Each winner demonstrates the transformative potential of collaboration, creativity, and cutting-edge tools—proof that progress starts when dreams meet reality.

PTFE Large Products

PTFE Large Products have the highest melting point and is capable of continued service at -180-260 C. PTFE is a melt processible resin capable of continued service at 204 C. PTFE products are used as gasket and packing materials in chemical processing equipment; as electrical insulation for maximum reliabillity; and in bearings, seals, piston rings and other mechanical applications, especially those require anti-stick characteristics. PTFE has excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties. it has a low coefficient of friction.
