It’s undeniable now: the cloud has revolutionized how we deliver value to our customers. One of the most striking examples of this transformation is generative design, a groundbreaking technology that combines cloud computing and AI to push design exploration beyond human capabilities. That’s why we’re partnering with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide even more computational power to the first 1,000 new subscribers eager to try generative design. The initiative will officially launch this summer on July 1st and remain available to new annual Fusion 360 Ultimate subscribers until September 30 or until all 1,000 slots are filled. Working closely with AWS, Autodesk has always aimed to create solutions that harness the immense connectivity and computational power of the cloud. Generative design is the latest addition to our suite of cloud-driven manufacturing tools. With this technology, designers and engineers can swiftly generate multiple high-performance design options based on specific constraints such as material, weight, or manufacturing processes. The cloud facilitates rapid exploration of dozens, if not hundreds, of potential solutions within the design space. Engineers can then evaluate and choose the options that best fit their requirements. Companies like GM, Airbus, and Lightning Motorcycles have already embraced generative design to develop products that are lighter, more efficient, or composed of fewer parts compared to previous models. Generative design doesn’t just enhance the product development process—it’s a scalable technology with the potential to transform the manufacturing industry for the better. “The cloud’s power is essential in making generative design accessible to designers and engineers in a quick and cost-efficient manner,†said Josef Waltl, Global Industrial Software Segment Lead at AWS. “Thanks to the strong partnership between Autodesk and AWS, customers will be empowered to create highly innovative products that surpass existing designs in both economic and environmental terms.†In April, we officially launched generative design as part of Fusion 360 Ultimate—a comprehensive product development tool that allows users to design, engineer, and manufacture products entirely in a cloud-based environment. To conduct generative design studies, users can utilize cloud credits (1 credit equals $1) to run the service without interruption. Every Fusion 360 Ultimate subscriber already receives 1,000 cloud credits with their subscription. Thanks to our collaboration with AWS, for a limited time, we’ll provide an extra 500 credits (totaling 1,500 credits) to the first 1,000 new Fusion 360 Ultimate subscribers. This “starter kit†aims to help users dive into this exciting new technology. Fusion 360 Ultimate subscribers can use cloud credits to perform generative design studies (25 credits each), explore alternatives, and download their preferred designs (100 credits). Participants in this offer will have enough credits to complete several design studies. We’re committed to lowering barriers for our customers, not raising them. Whether you’re using Solidworks, Inventor, Solid Edge, NX, or Catia, our AnyCAD technology ensures seamless interoperability with other CAD programs, allowing you to access your data anytime and anywhere. This means you can integrate your generative designs into the software you’re most familiar with through Fusion 360 Ultimate’s seamless associativity. We’re thrilled that one of the first customers to embrace this offer is Aim93. Led by bike designer Mike Burrows and engineers Barney Townsend and Glen Thompson from London South Bank University, Aim93 is on a mission to build the fastest human-powered vehicle—a recumbent bike designed to break the world land speed record by reaching 93 mph in a 200-meter sprint. Several design hurdles exist—the frame must be lightweight yet rigid, while the drivetrain and components need minimal friction. “Fusion 360 has filled a critical gap by addressing all our main modeling needs, making our workflow much easier, enjoyable, and efficient. The advent of generative design takes our potential for innovation to a whole new level,†said Townsend. “We’re very excited about the early results we’ve seen with generative design and believe that with further refinements to the model and inputs, we can achieve our goal of a super-lightweight, extremely stiff frame capable of breaking the world record.†Aim93’s generatively designed chassis overlaid with the prototype hand-built carbon frame.
