As we step into this ever-evolving world, change feels like an unstoppable force. From traditional factories to cutting-edge technology, futuristic computers, 3D printing, and digital fabrication services are taking center stage. Creativity has become a universal language, and individuals are increasingly turning away from mass-produced items in favor of personalized, creative projects. Makers from every corner of society are emerging, designing, creating, and sharing their work, pushing boundaries and fostering innovation across communities.
Building on the success of last month’s incredible Robotics-focused Design Night, our May event centered around the theme “Making It.†Kicking off the evening was a fantastic talk by Mark Hatch, CEO of Tech Shop, who shared his insights on the maker movement and its impact on creativity and innovation.
One of the highlights of the night was the “Make a Creature, Take a Creature†station. Using Autodesk 123D Creature, participants crafted their very own creatures, monsters, or works of art. These creations were then printed out and compiled into a collaborative “creature collage.†Each guest left with their own 3D-printed creature, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The event also featured hands-on activities such as building your own birdhouse using laser-cut pieces designed with Autodesk 123D Design. Additionally, attendees could take home a mushroom-growing kit courtesy of the Mycological Society. Other interactive stations included laser-cut jewelry-making with Otherlab and engaging displays from Instructables.
For those who attended, there was something for everyone—from crafting unique creatures to creating functional yet stylish birdhouses or even starting their own mushroom garden. Photos captured the essence of the night, showcasing the vibrant energy and creativity that filled the room.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to invite you to June’s “Faster. Stronger. Tech-ier.†Design Night on Thursday, June 6, from 6-10 PM. Whether you're a seasoned maker or simply curious about the world of innovation, this event promises to be another inspiring evening full of discovery and fun. Join us as we continue to explore the boundless possibilities of technology and creativity!
