Solve common problems in manufacturing in China

For the State Key Laboratory of Weichi Diesel's Construction of Internal Combustion Engine Reliability officially approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology on October 14 this year, Yu Dehui believes that Weichai has been deeply cultivating the internal combustion engine industry for nearly 70 years and has a deep understanding of the reliability of the internal combustion engine. Weichai has always put products in place for decades. The differentiated advantages were positioned in terms of reliability, and it took seven years to apply for national key laboratories.

Taking the B10 life of a vehicle diesel engine as an example, the US diesel engine is basically 1.5 million kilometers, the European diesel engine is 1.2 million kilometers, and China's diesel engine averages only 800,000 kilometers.

China can create manned rockets, but went crazy to grab the Japanese toilet seat; China's wholesale market is filled with numerous small commodities, but no Swiss brand like the Saber. A knife, how many advanced technologies can be? The key is quality, which is reliability.

The low-cost, low-cost haze has long influenced Chinese companies to enter the international high-end market. To achieve a “quality power”, it is by no means an intriguing innovation. It is even more urgent to carry out basic and comprehensive research in a down-to-earth manner. Reliability is the key to resolving the pain of lock-throat development in China's internal combustion engines.

Focus on improving service life

Yu Dehui told reporters that reliability research is not simply to extend the life of the engine. Sometimes the customer's demand for internal combustion engines is not long life but short life. Recently, a U.S. customer tried to find a diesel engine and wanted to make a 250-hour diesel engine and install it on a fire engine. Fire trucks have a low frequency of use and may not be in contact with fire for several years. Customers need to ensure that the engine can operate with high quality at all times and in a short period of time, and can stand idle for a long time.

Therefore, in the future, Weichai will not only have a durable "marathon runner" but also have a powerful "sprinter". Weichai’s reliability study is based on the basic premise of satisfying the individual needs of customers and improving attendance quality and reducing failures in the custom-made lifespan.

Of course, in view of the current status of the Chinese auto industry, especially commercial vehicles, durability is still the most extensive demand of customers. Weichai's reliability research will focus on the service life of internal combustion engines.

At the same time, the improvement of reliability is still the basis and premise of the energy-saving, emission-reducing and light-duty combustion engine. The combustion level of the internal combustion engine determines its energy consumption and emission level. To increase the combustion efficiency, the mechanical load and the heat load must increase. This requires the explosion pressure in the cylinder to expand. The high burst pressure imposes higher requirements on the reliability of the internal combustion engine. Therefore, to apply energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies to products and to apply lightweight materials, reliability must be ensured first.

This is why the State Key Laboratory of Reliability of Internal Combustion Engines is the main reason for being anchored in the “new energy and low-energy vehicles” major research category.
