According to NBC Chicago:
A pilot was killed when a small aircraft crashed into a residential home in a southwest Chicago suburb early Thursday morning, authorities confirmed. The crash happened around 11:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of Hampton Court, near Chestnut Hill Road and Bedford Drive in Plainfield.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the crash, and the FAA reported no injuries on the ground. However, the number of people aboard the plane remains under investigation. Joliet's city manager confirmed that the pilot died in the incident.
Footage from the scene showed significant damage to one side of the house, with debris scattered across the street. Officials believe the fire was sparked by fuel from the plane, but the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
