The Northbrook Fire Department responded to a fire alarm this morning at a floral shop located at 1353 Shermer Road, right in the heart of downtown Northbrook. When first responders arrived, they reported heavy smoke coming from the building, and Northbrook Tower 12 quickly confirmed the situation upon their arrival. The incident was escalated to a Code 4 working fire, prompting additional resources including an engine from Glencoe and a truck from Northfield, along with two engines, two ambulances, and the tower ladder from Northbrook.
Tim Olk, a local photographer, was on the scene and captured several images of the event. His photos show light smoke escaping from the front door of the florist shop, as well as firefighters waiting for instructions in front of the building. Northbrook Tower 12 was the first unit to arrive, and Engine 11, a Pierce Impel, quickly deployed a hose line to the fire. Fortunately, the electrical fire was contained before mutual aid units arrived, and all responding crews were able to return to their stations shortly after.
Tim has shared a full gallery of photos from the scene, providing a detailed visual account of the incident. One image shows firefighters exiting the store after conducting a thorough check for any signs of fire spread. This quick response and effective containment prevented any major damage or injuries. Local residents have praised the firefighters for their professionalism and speed in handling the situation.
