China's auto parts standards need to be unified

Standard competition is the highest level of competition in the world's auto parts market. Many parts and components in developed countries have uniform standards, and China's auto parts standards are in disarray.

At present, except for a small number of automotive parts, such as bearings and fasteners , that have national standards, most of China's parts and components do not have uniform standards. For example, there are more than 1,900 aluminum wheel export enterprises in China but there is no uniform product standard.

Each host company has different parts standards, resulting in dozens or hundreds or even thousands of standards for the same kind of parts in China. Therefore, various auto parts companies in China have to stock up on a variety of standard parts and components, and have encountered great difficulties in strengthening management, technological transformation, lean production, cost control, and product promotion.

The worst consequence of the lack of a unified standard is that Chinese auto parts companies have been passively beaten in international trade frictions. Automotive parts standards are often referred to as automotive parts technology, quality thresholds, or trade barriers. The agreement on technical barriers of the World Trade Organization does not deny the rationality and necessity of the existence of technical trade barriers, allowing countries to formulate different technical standards according to their own characteristics. In this regard, the developed countries eat very thoroughly and use freely.

Developed countries often play their leading role in technology, established high-tech standards such as noise, emissions, fatigue resistance, and reliability, built technical barriers, and created frictions in international trade. China's auto parts, which cannot meet its technical standards, have been shut out.

Domestic auto parts standards need to be unified. The establishment of standards requires a professional talent team, requires advanced testing equipment, and requires a lot of investment. Most of the domestic parts and components companies are small in scale and incompetent, unable to set standards, or even have to send export products overseas, commissioning detection agencies in developed countries to carry out inspections and provide inspection reports in accordance with their standards, with high transportation and inspection costs. .

The Association has a unique role in formulating standards for automotive parts. It should actively strengthen cooperation with international standardization organizations, organize experts to participate in international standardization organization activities, and be familiar with international game rules. The National Standardization Committee should refer to the common practice of developed countries and entrust the association to formulate parts and components standards to provide strong support for Chinese auto parts enterprises to participate in the international market competition.
