[ Instrument network and instrument research and development ] Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a new type of crystalline porous material with good porosity, high surface area and adjustable functions. The unique performance provides an ideal platform for photocatalytic CO2 reduction . Encapsulating metalloporphyrin molecules in COFs pores to prepare composite materials can combine the advantages of the two in photocatalytic CO2 reduction, but there will be molecular catalyst components leaching during the reaction, resulting in poor cycle stability.
Wang Ruihu’s group at the State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry, Fujian Institute of the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences confined metalloporphyrin-based carbon dots in the pores of COFs to prepare a class of COFs-supported metalloporphyrin-based carbon dots (M-PCD@ TD-COF, M=Ni, Co and Fe) composite material and used for photocatalytic CO2 reduction. The large specific surface area and porosity of TD-COF promote the adsorption of CO2 molecules and increase the local CO2 concentration around the active site. The hydrophobicity of the TD-COF framework limits the contact of H2O molecules with the catalytic active center, thereby inhibiting light It promotes the decomposition of H2O and improves the selectivity of CO2 reduction. In addition, the epitaxial π-conjugated structure of TD-COF accelerates the transfer of photo-generated electrons from the photosensitizer to the catalytically active site, and the system has high catalytic efficiency and stability. This research provides a new scheme for the design and synthesis of COFs-based heterogeneous catalytic materials.
